About Us

Who We Are

The mission of Trinity Life Baptist Church is to "invest our tithes, time and talents toward bringing more people to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ." The GEM of our mission to GLORIFY God with our worship and our works, to EDIFY God's people with our teaching and our touch, and to MULTIPLY God's Kingdom with our evangelism and our life example.

As the body of Christ it is very important that we believe what His Word teaches us and that we put into practice those biblical principles that have been revealed to us. Below is a list of truths that the Bible reveals to us and what the body at Trinity Life whole-heartedly believes.

Our goal is to meet the needs of our community the way Jesus met the needs of His. Jesus walked shoulder to shoulder with people dealing with the struggles of life, and He simply showed His love for them—a love that was selfless and without agenda or ulterior motive. We are people who have experienced that life-changing love; therefore, we want to show it to others. Through our different campus ministries, we are doing just that.

What We Believe

THE VERBAL, PLENARY INSPIRATION OF THE SCRIPTURES - The Word of God is the sole standard for our faith and practice. It is without error in the original manuscripts (2 Timothy 3:16).

ONLY ONE TRUE GOD - There is only one living and true God (1 Corinthians 8:6).

THE TRINITY OF THE GODHEAD - Three persons - God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are equal in every divine perfection, but execute distinct offices in the work of redemption (Acts 5:30-32).

THE HOLY SPIRIT AND HIS MINISTRY - The Holy Spirit is the agent in the new birth; He convicts of sin, seals, indwells, endures, guides, teaches, witnesses, sanctifies and helps the believer (John 14:16, 17).

THE PERSONALITY OF SATAN - God created the personality of Satan as an angel, but through pride and rebellion he became the enemy of his Creator. He is the unholy god of this age, whose eternal destination is the Lake of Fire (2 Corinthians 4:4).

THE GENESIS ACCOUNT OF CREATION - Man was created by a direct act of God (Genesis 1).

ORIGINAL SIN AND THE FALL OF MAN - Man was created in innocence. By voluntary transgression of God's law he caused all men to be born in sin and under the just condemnation of God (Romans 5:12).

THE VIRGIN BIRTH OF CHRIST - Christ was miraculously begotten of the Holy Spirit and born of Mary, a virgin. He is both fully God and fully human (Matthew 1:18).

SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN THE SHED OF BLOOD OF CHRIST - Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is the only condition of salvation. Repentance is an integral part of saving faith (Acts 20:21).

THE BODILY RESURRECTION AND PRIESTHOOD OF CHRIST - Christ now sits at the right hand of the Father, interceding for us (Hebrews 12:2).

GRACE AND THE NEW BIRTH - The new birth is an instantaneous act brought about by the power of the Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 5:17).

JUSTIFICATION BY FAITH - Believers are declared righteous solely through faith in the Redeemer's shed blood (Romans 5:1).

SANCTIFICATION OF THE BELIEVER - The believer is set apart unto God. This is accomplished in a threefold manner: first, an eternal act of God, based upon redemption in Christ; second, a continuing process in the saint as the Holy Spirit applies the Word of God to their life; third, the final accomplishment of this process will be at the Lord's return (1 Thessalonians 5:23).

THE SECURITY OF THE BELIEVER - All who are truly born again are kept by God the Father for Jesus Christ (John 10:28, 29).

THE LOCAL CHURCH - The local church is an organized, self-governing body of immersed believers (Acts 2:41, 42). All New Testament believers are unified in the Church, which is the Body of Christ (Ephesians 5:23).

THE ORDINANCES OF THE LOCAL CHURCH, BAPTISM BY IMMERSION AND THE LORD'S SUPPER - Christian baptism is the immersion of the believer to show his identification with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection. The Lord's Supper is the commemoration of Christ's death until He returns (Matthew 28:19-20).

BIBLICAL SEPARATION-ECCLESIASTICAL AND PERSONAL - The Bible commands us to separate ourselves unto God from worldliness and ecclesiastical apostasy (Romans 16:17).

OBEDIENCE TO CIVIL GOVERNMENT - God appoints Governments for our interests. Magistrates are to be prayed for, honored and obeyed (Romans 13:1).

THE PLACE OF ISRAEL - Israel is God's eternal covenant people by sovereign selection (Romans 11:2).

THE PRE-TRIBULATION RAPTURE OF THE CHURCH - The church shall be caught up to meet the Lord in the air before the seven years of the Tribulation (Revelation 3:10).

THE PREMILLENNIAL REIGN OF CHRIST - The revelation of Christ in power and great glory to sit upon the thrown of David (Matthew 24:29-31).

THE MILLENNIAL REIGN OF CHRIST - The establishment of the millennial kingdom (Revelation 20:1-4).

ETERNAL GLORY IN HEAVEN FOR THE RIGHTEOUS - Only those who have been justified by faith are truly righteous in God's sight (Romans 6:23).

ETERNAL TORMENT IN HELL FOR THE WICKED - Those who continue in unbelief are under the curse and face everlasting conscious suffering in the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:15).

Ministries

Our goal is to meet the needs of our community the way Jesus met the needs of His. Jesus walked shoulder to shoulder with people dealing with the struggles of life, and He simply showed His love for them—a love that was selfless and without agenda or ulterior motive. We are people who have experienced that life-changing love; therefore, we want to show it to others. Through our different campus ministries, we are doing just that.

CHILDREN - TLC provides a variety of programs and activities that teach children about God's Word. Our desire is that your child will learn about God's love and receive Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.

STUDENTS - The student ministry of Trinity Life offers students a forum to dig deep into their faith: to know what they believe, why they believe it, and how to defend the faith.

ADULTS - Being active in Bible study and fellowship is an important part of the Christian life and at Trinity Life we provide a wide variety of Bible Study groups and activities for our adult members to be a part of. Bible Study groups are people with similar ages and/or family structures meeting together to study God's Word, fellowship, service, and provide accountability for one another. Members and visitors alike are encouraged to find a group and join in where God is working.

WOMEN - The women's ministry of TLC meets on a regular basis for fellowship and Bible Study. If you are a woman and wish to grow in your relationship with Christ and with other women, we encourage you to join us. Check the church bulletin as well as the upcoming events / announcements on the church website for our next activity!

SENIOR ADULTS - Trinity Life also has a senior adult ministry which provides our senior adults with opportunities to grow, learn, and fellowship with one another. Sunday school, fellowships, and ministry opportunities await you!

Pastoral Staff

Pastor Russell Rogers, Senior Pastor - Pastor Russell began his ministry at the age of 17. He has served as a Youth Pastor, Children's Pastor, and Praise & Worship Pastor prior to becoming the founding pastor of Trinity Life where he has faithfully served as Senior Pastor for eighteen years. He was licensed and ordained to the ministry at Oates Drive Baptist Church in Mesquite, Texas in 1992. Pastor Russell has been blessed with the privilege of serving as a guest speaker and Evangelist both nationally and internationally, building partnerships in Latvia, Thailand, India, and around the United States.

His degrees include a Bachelor of Science from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia and a Master of Liberal Arts with a Concentration in Pastoral Counseling from Dallas Baptist University. He has training in Marital and Pre-Marital Counseling, Crisis Intervention, has been a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, and served as a Chaplain with Victim Relief Ministries.

Pastor Russell has served as an adjunct professor of Pastoral Leadership and Church Evangelism at Southern California Seminary in San Diego, California through its on-line education program.

Pastor Russell married his wonderful wife Shelly in 1988. They are blessed with five children (three by adoption and two by birth), Austin, Casey, Nathan, Sean, and Lauren.

Pastor Russell and Shelly served as foster and adoptive parents with the State of Texas Department of Family Protective Services for more than eleven years. During this time, they were blessed to provide foster care to several children.

As Founder and Executive Director of SALT Family Ministries, Pastor Russell is a passionate advocate for Fostering and Adoption. He travels extensively speaking to churches and Christian organizations about the need for Christian homes to be involved in ministering to "the least of these" as Christ commanded.

The Dallas Morning News published an article on the topic of Foster and Adoption in which Pastor Russell and his family were featured. Click here to read the story.

Pastor Russell enjoys playing golf, fishing, hunting, shooting guns, and traveling, but most of all, he loves to fellowship with friends and family.

When asked about his greatest joy, Pastor Russell quickly responded, "Evangelism and Empowerment! I love to preach evangelistic messages to people who enjoy hearing the word proclaimed with passion and power. I love seeing lives transformed by the power of God when truth is proclaimed with boldness. I love the celebration that takes place when people are empowered and motivated to fulfill the great commission!"

One of his favorite scriptures is Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."

History

Trinity Life Baptist Church, started as a "mission church" in January 1992. Oates Baptist Church of Mesquite, Texas and Casa View Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas co-sponsored the church plant. Trinity Life was "chartered" as a church in February 1996.

Outreach

It is the hope and prayer of Trinity Life Church to be a body of believers whose impact is felt far beyond our local congregation. We desire to be a people who make a real difference here in our community and beyond. In response to overwhelming need, Trinity Life has launched two dynamic ministries: Casey's Heart and SALT Family Ministries. Both of these ministries are unique in their approach to fulfilling Christ's work on the earth, and both are making substantial impacts. We invite you to learn more about both of these outreach ministries of our church, and to also prayerfully consider becoming involved.

Casey's Heart organizes monthly trips downtown to deliver basic necessities like jackets, blankets and toothbrushes to people who live on the streets. Casey, his family and volunteers have also delivered toys to children at Family Gateway and Dallas Life Foundation shelters. Casey's effort has grown so much in the past three years that Trinity Life has made T-shirts for the outings and bought a bus primarily for the downtown trips. There's no overhead for the ministry, and everything collected goes to the homeless.

Heart's Without Homes is Trinity Life's local foster care and adoption ministry. Through fund raising and community events, this ministry is making an impact right here in Garland and in the greater DFW Metroplex.

SALT Family Ministries - Did you know every year in the state of Texas there are more than 70,000 new cases of documented child abuse? Did you know there are currently 34,000 children currently in the Texas foster care system? Many of these children have been abused, neglected and even abandoned. But sadly, in our great state there are only about 2,500 foster homes to care for the more than 100,000 children that need a safe place.
